Box Score BOLIVAR, Mo. – Despite a double double of 15 points and 10 rebounds from freshman guard
Hannah Jones, the University of Sioux Falls Women's Basketball Team (1-1) dropped a 75-63 nonconference decision against Henderson State (2-0) at the Southwest Baptist Classic on Saturday afternoon.
In the first-ever meeting between these two teams, USF lost despite outscoring HSU, 34-26 in the paint and owning a 14-10 advantage in bench scoring. USF was foiled by its struggles from the field as they made just 36.5 percent on 23-of-63 shooting. USF was also just 4-of-14 form three point range for 26.7 percent. As for the Reddies, they had a solid game shooting by making 25-of-54 field goals for 46.3 percent. They were also 11-of-28 from three-point range and hit 14-of-20 free throws.
In just her second game at USF, H. Jones recorded her first career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds while dishing two assists. Junior forward Gloria Mulumbo finished with 13 points and five rebounds. She made 4-of-10 shots from the field and 5-of-6 free throws. In addition, Molumbo had a steal and a block. For the 31

Kaely Hummel reached double digits with 11 points on 4-for-9 shooting along with two free-throws on four attempts. Â
Game Breakdown
HSU took an early 7-3 lead over USF. But the Cougars outscored HSU, 12-7, to take a first quarter lead of 1-14. Hummel, who led a 7-0 run in the final two minutes, scored seven points for the Cougars. Â Â Â
USF pushed their lead to three less than a minute into the second quarter after Mulumbo made a lay-up to put USF ahead, 17-14. After the Reddies took a lead, USF tied the game at 23 on a basket from Jones with 4:49 to play. However, HSU closed the half on a 7-1 run and took a 30-24 lead to the halftime break.
USF finished the first half shooting for a 35.7 percent clip on 10 made shots on 28 attempts. USF made 1-of-7 three point field goals as well as 3-of-6 in free-throws.
Hailey Estes, who led HSU with 21 points, helped HSU extended their lead to 35-26 at the 8:02 mark and another basket inside from her gave the Reddies a 40-29 lead with 5:43 to play in the third quarter. Â
Later in the quarter, Pink Jones, who had 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists, hit a three-pointer with 1:13 to play for a 49-35 advantage. However, Jones pulled USF within 10 points on a three-pointer at the buzzer as the Cougars trailed, 49-39.
HSU re-asserted control in the fourth quarter by opening with an 8-3 run for a 57-42 advantage following a three-point shot from Estes. A basket from
Kiara James drew USF back to within 10 points at 58-48 with 5:52 to play. However, HSU continued to hold off USF by answering baskets by the Cougars with their own. After H. Jones made a layup with 2:50 to play, P. Jones of HSU answered on the other end to put the lead back to 11 points (67-56). A three-pointer by
Mariah Szymanski cut the lead to 67-59 with 57 seconds to play but HSU's Lani Snowden hit a three pointer and then the Reddies made five free throws down the stretch for the final margin.
USF will look to bounce back as they travel to South Dakota School of Mines and Technology on Friday, Nov. 16 for a 6:30 p.m., game.
