USF Women's Basketball finishes up their non-conference schedule with a home game against Presentation College

SIOUX FALLS—Looking to build off of a solid start to the season, the University of Sioux Falls Women's Basketball Team (3-1) will host Presentation College (3-6) in nonconference action at the Stewart Center at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 27.
 
USF has won two straight games with a dominating 90-44 victory over Chadron State on Nov. 17. In that victory, junior Kaely Hummel and sophomore Lauren Sanders each scored 14 points while freshman Krystal Carlson added a career-best 13 as USF picked up their third win in four games. USF shot a season-high 56.9 percent by making 33-of-58 field goals. After making just 35.7 percent in the first half, USF was a sizzling 21-of-28 for 75 percent in the final two quarters. 
 
Overall, USF knocked in 11 three-pointers on 26 attempts for 42.3 percent in the offensive explosion against Chadron State. USF head coach Travis Traphagen played 15 players and 12 of them scored. Sophomore Anna Goodhope had nine points, five rebounds and two assists while redshirt freshman Jasmine Harris provided nine points and junior Jessie Geer added eight on 4-of-5 field goals.

Hummel leading USF in scoring at 11.8 points per game
So far in the 2018-19 season, USF has shot 41.4 percent from the field (106-of-256), while also recording 38 made three-point shots on 107 attempts for a 35.5 three-point percentage. USF has outscored their opponents 308-to-212 while also outrebounding their opponents by 24 (159-to-135).
 
Hummel leads the team in scoring at 11.8 points per game on 41.5 percent shooting (17-for-41) from the field. Hummel has recorded 56 total double-digit scoring games in her career with three so far this season. Gloria Mulumba is second on the team in scoring at 9.0 points per game while shooting at a 52.4 percent clip. She also has accumulated 20 total rebounds (five per game), which also ranks second on the team. Hannah Jones, who is averaging 7.3 points per game, leads USF in rebounding with 6.3 per game and has 25 on the season.
 
Sanders is third on the team in scoring with 8.3 points per game while making 61.1 percent from the field (11-for-18) and 66.7 percent from beyond the arc (10-for-15). Sanders has accumulated nine double-digit scoring games in her career with two coming this season. Junior Augusta Thramer has totaled seven double-digit scoring games in her career and has continued to play a consistent role for the team.

USF picked first in NSIC Preseason Poll
In the NSIC Preseason Coaches Poll, USF received 9-of-16 first place ballots and was the selected as the favorite to win the league. USF, which has never won an outright league crown in the NSIC, was also the favorite in the South Division Poll in which they received five of eight first place votes.   
 
Cougars set to host Presentation for fifth consecutive season
On Tuesday, USF will host in-state foe Presentation College for the fifth consecutive year. USF owns a perfect 4-0 record against the Saints since USF joined the NCAA Division II ranks. All four victories have come by a double-digit margin.  Most recently, the Cougars cruised to a 90-56 victory behind a record setting 17 made three-point shots. Sanders recorded a career-high 23 points and went 7-for-9 from beyond the arc.
 
Presentation is lead by head coach Eric Nelson who enters his sixth season with the Saints. Junior forward Allison Cox leads the Saint's offense averaging 13.4 points per game, while also pulling down 5.8 rebounds per contest. Junior April Hudelson who has recorded 10.8 points per game so far this season along with 6.8 rebounds per game joins Cox in leading the team.
 
Traphagen leads USF Program
Travis Traphagen is in his 11th season as the head coach of the University of Sioux Falls women's basketball team. In his 10 seasons at the helm of the USF Women's Basketball program, Traphagen owns a 197-104 overall record, which makes him the school's career leader. He has led USF to four 20-win seasons and recorded back-to-back 20-win campaigns in 2015-16 and 2016-17. In 2015-16, he led the program to their first-ever NCAA Tournament berth in USF Women's Basketball history. Traphagen, who has directed USF to four straight winning seasons, has twice guided the Cougars to the NSIC Tournament title game. The 2015-16 team won the tournament to earn USF's first trip to the NCAA DII National Tournament. He has also led USF to the NSIC Tournament semifinals or better three straight years.
 
Before his time at USF, he was the head assistant women's basketball coach at Augustana College (S.D.) since 2001. In his six years at Augustana, besides his on-court duties, Traphagen coordinated recruiting for the women's basketball program. Overall, Traphagen amassed a 111-69 record as an assistant coach at Augustana.
 
Traphagen and his wife, Ann, reside in Sioux Falls with their three children, Grayson, Riley and Luke.
