The Cougars were led by three hits and two RBI from junior first baseman Josh Rehwaldt. Kole Levkin added a single and RBI for the USF attack. Keenahn Coyle (0-1) started and took the setback as he allowed seven runs, including five earned, with seven hits in 2 2/3 innings. Seven other USF pitchers took the mount including Jackson Olson (1 1/3, four hits, two runs), Alex Loosbrock (one inning, two hits, one run, strikeout), Mitchell Lyall (2/3, three hits and two runs), Christian Lazar (1/3, no hits), Anthony Reese (one inning, no hits, no runs) and Matt Graham (one inning, no hits, no runs, two strikeouts).

MSU opened the first with a pair of runs and added five in the third, two in the fourth, one in the fifth inning and two in the bottom of the sixth inning.

In the top of the fifth inning, the Cougars broke through against Crader as a walk and Matthew Minnick single produced a scoring opportunity, which Rehwaldt took advantage of with a run-scoring single. USF added another run in the top of the sixth inning when Levkin's single scored Ryan Bernardy who had walked.

USF and Metro State will conclude the series on Sunday with game time set for  1 p.m.
