BURNSVILLE, Minn. –
Sydney Nieveen Emmie Uitts and
Abby Feyereisen of the University of Sioux Falls Student-Athlete Advisory Leadership Committee will attend the 2018 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (SAAC) Leadership Summit on May 21-23 at Winona State University.

Nieveen, Uitts and Feyereisen will be among the 70 representatives from all 16 NSIC institutions will participate in activities to build camaraderie between NSIC SAAC leadership, enhance communication skills and learn more about preparing for life after college. Feyereisen is a junior middle blocker on the USF Volleyball Team from Minneapolis, Minn., who will serve as president of SAAC in 2018-19. Uitts is a freshman catcher from Elkhorn, Neb., and Nieven is a sophomore first baseman from Lincoln, Neb., on the USF Softball Team.

Pam Gohl, who is the advisor for the USF SAAC group, sees tremendous benefits for the student-athletes participation. "They will take part in team-building exercises, participate in engaging round table discussions on leadership and interact with other student-athletes around the league," said Gohl, who will accompany the group.
The event will start Monday with the student-athletes taking the DiSC assessment, participants engaging in round table discussions and presentations showcasing the APPLE Conference and the student-athlete leadership forum.

On Tuesday, the students will be part of a community engagement event at Sugarloaf. The NSIC student-athletes will clean up the hill, then join in team building activities and rock climbing. Also on Tuesday, a joint meeting between the NSIC SAAC Student-Athletes and the NSIC Board of Directors will be held. During the joint meeting the inaugural
NSIC SAAC Cup will be awarded. All participants will end the night with a boat ride on the Mississippi River.
On Wednesday morning, the group will hold their annual NSIC SAAC business meeting.
