Lexi Scott's 14 kills, the University of Sioux Falls Volleyball Team (3-2) dominated Emporia State (1-4) in a 3-0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-14) decision in their first match at the Rockhurst Classic on Friday (Aug. 31).

Scott had 14 kills on 19 attempts for a .684 hitting percentage. Sophomore
Averey Yaksich added six kills on 14 attempts for a hitting percentage of .357. USF had 35 total assists during the match, including 26 by Sophomore
Krista Goerger.

As a team, the Cougars recorded 37 kills on 64 attempts for a hitting percentage of .500, which is the first time this season that the team reached the .500 mark.

In set one, USF jumped out to a 9-2 lead and finished 25-11 after a block by Scott and Yaksich sealed the set. During the first match the Cougars recorded ten kills on 17 attempts for a .471 hitting percentage.

During set two, the Cougars found themselves down 3-6 early, but came back midway through the match to take a 18-10 lead on a kill by Yaksich. USF pulled away late and finished off the set with a nine-point lead. During the set, USF recorded 14 kills on 24 attempts for a hitting percentage of .542.

Set three began with both teams even at 3-3. The Cougars took off on a seven point run and rolled to the victory in the set and match. With 13 kills on 23 attempts, USF proved to be too much for Emporia State in their 25-14 victory.

USF will next play No.6 Rockhurst (4-0) at 7:30 PM in their second match at the Rockhurst Classic.
