Women's Basketball set for a pair of midweek games against Emporia State and SMSU

SIOUX FALLS — The University of Sioux Falls Women's Basketball team is set for a pair of mid-week games at the Stewart Center on Tuesday and Wednesday when Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) member Emporia State and Southwest Minnesota State come to town. The Cougars' matchup with SMSU will mark the start of their Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play.

The Rundown (2019 Record)-
Tues., Nov. 18, 6 p.m. vs. Emporia State Lady Hornets (3-1, MIAA)
Wed., Nov. 19, 7 p.m. vs. Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs (3-0)

Emporia State Lady Hornets (3-1)-
The Hornets, winner of 22 games a year ago and a NCAA Division II Central Regional participant, are off to a good start on the season under the direction of second year head coach Toby Wynn.

ESU has dropped only one game to a very tough Harding team that looks to break the Top 25 with two strong wins over ESU and No. 24 Angelo State.

Tre'Zure Jobe and Jessica Wayne leads the Hornet offense, averaging 16.3 and 15.5 ppg, respectively.

Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs (3-0)-
The Mustangs, led by fourth-year head coach Tom Webb, are also off to a hot start, going a perfect 3-0.

SMSU has beat East Ventral (Okla.) and Ouachita Baptist (Ark.), both in Kansas, before coming home for a 84-46 thrashing of NAIA member Presentation on Saturday.

Meleah Reinhart and Jenna Borchers have both been staples for the Mustang offense, with both averaging 14 ppg or more.

Sioux Falls Cougars (2-0)-
Travis Traphagen and Company have had a good showing so far in the 2019-20 campaign, and only have room for improvement moving forward from their pair of wins against William Jewell and Chadron State.

The Cougars offense is led by redshirt junior and NDSU transfer Anna Goodhope, who has averaged 16 ppg in two games, including dropping 21 against William Jewell.

NSIC South Preseason Player of the year, senior Kaely Hummel, has also had a strong showing to this point, averaging 15.5 ppg, which entailed 23 points against William Jewell.

USF vs Chadron State Notes-
USF (2-0) placed 14 players in the scoring column in rolling to an 81-45 victory over Chadron State (0-2) at the USF Classic on Saturday at the Stewart Center.

In winning the USF Classic, the Cougars defeated their second straight opponent by double digit margins. USF, which received votes in the WBCA Preseason Poll, defeated William Jewell, 77-62, on Friday and then had the win over Chadron State for a 158-to-107 scoring margin in the two wins.
