LILBURN, Ga. — The University of Sioux Falls Women's Basketball team, led by 12th-year head coach Travis Traphagen, earned an uptick in votes in the most recent Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll released by the WBCA on Tuesday.
USF, after receiving nine votes in the preseason poll (Oct. 31), the Cougars (2-0) join the cusp of teams vying for a spot in the Top 25 with 37 votes in Tuesday's poll. With five teams dropping out from the Top 25, the Cougars earned their jump to being the third team out of the Top 25.
Coincidentally, the team one spot ahead of the Cougars with one more vote than USF, Emporia State, comes to Sioux Falls on Tuesday for what is set to be a thriller at the Stewart Center.
In addition to earning a raise in the national polls, the Cougars have also moved up one spot in the D2SIDA Women's Basketball Week 1 Regional Polls, also released Tuesday. In the preseason regional poll, D2SIDA set the Cougars at sixth in the Central Region, but with teams ahead dropping games, USF has earned a move up to fifth in the Central Region.
