Women's Basketball moves to No. 11 in the WBCA Coaches Top 25 Poll

LILBURN, Ga.— The University of Sioux Falls Women's Basketball team, directed by 12th-year head coach Travis Traphagen, earned their highest ranking since joining NCAA Division II as they moved up to No. 11 in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top 25 Coaches Poll, which was released on Tuesday.

USF received 295 votes in the poll after a trip to Hawai'i, in which they went 3-0 and got a quality, 77-75 road win over Hawai'i Pacific, who made their way into the Top 25 (No. 24) with a nine-point win over then-No. 14 UC San Diego (No. 21 in Tuesday's poll). A week ago, USF was ranked No. 19 which was their first ranking since the 2015-16 season.

In addition to defeating the Sharks on their home floor, the Cougars took down the Hawai'i Hilo Vulcans and Chaminade Silverswords to extend their overall record to 7-0 heading into the brunt of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play. USF currently holds a 1-0 record in the league after defeating Southwest Minnesota State, 100-77, at the Stewart Center.

Along with the WBCA poll, the Cougars made a seven-spot jump in the D2SIDA national poll, going from 21st to 14th in the poll released Monday. In the D2SIDA regional poll, the Cougars jumped to second in the Central Region.
