ORLANDO, FLA. – The University of Sioux Falls Tennis Team (4-7) dropped a 7-0 decision to the University of Charleston (8-1) on Wednesday.
USF lost all six singles and the three doubles matches but battled UC point-by-point throughout the match.
At No. 1 singles, redshirt sophomore
Chloe Jefferies dropped a 6-4, 4-6, 1-10 decision to Kristine Gegeshidze. Sophomore
Lexi Miller also dropped a hard-fought decision at No. 3 singles to Silvana Slusarciuc, 7-6, 7-5 decision. Another close battle in singles was at No. 5 when sophomore
Joelle Thorfinnson fell to Mathilde Simon 2-6, 6-22, 5-10 as she lost a third set tie-breaker for the second straight match. At No. 1 doubles,
Megan Quandt and
Kelsie Sanders battles the UC's No. 1 team of Elise Edwards and Silvana Slusarciuc before falling, 6-3.
Despite the outcome, USF Head Coach
Kevin Grebin was appreciated of the work by his team. "We really played them tough. We lost some really good, close matches. I am very proud of the way we competed and continue to improve as a squad," said Grebin, whose team will face Millersville on Thursday, March 14.
