BURNSVILLE, MINN. – Following her standout performance in the Florida spring break trip, University of Sioux Falls senior
Emily Hove was awarded the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Softball Player of the Week honors announced earlier today (March 18). This is Hove's first career NSIC Player of the Week honor and is the second USF player this season to be recognized.
A senior from Omaha, Neb., Hove batted .355 over nine games last week, going 11-of-31 at the plate. Hove drove in 12 runs while scoring eight with a pair of doubles, a triple, and five home runs as USF went won five of nine games during the week. She also owned a .968 slugging percentage with 30 total bases and a walk. The 30 total bases, the five home runs and 12 RBI led the NSIC last week.
USF will next compete in the Emporia State Classic from March 21-23 in Emporia, Kans. USF will begin with a game against Northern State on Thursday, March 21 at 10:30 a.m., then turn around and play a doubleheader on Friday, March 22 against Central Missouri at 12:30 p.m., and Pittsburg State at 3 p.m.
Hove joins
Courtney Mathews as USF Softball players to earn the NSIC weekly honor this year – Mathews was named Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 5, becoming the third to receive the pitcher of the week distinction in school history. Overall, USF has had five different players earn player of the week honors since joining the NSIC in 2012-13. They include position players
Lindsey Mossman and Brooke Stetzler, who earned players of the week honors in 2017 and 2016, respectively, while Alyson Netty and Amanda Walters were NSIC pitchers of the week in 2015 and 2014, respectively.
