USF Softball earns No. 10 seed in NSIC Tournament

BURNSVILLE, MINN. -- Earning a bid to the conference tournament for the sixth straight season, University of Sioux Falls Softball received the No. 10 seed and will face No. 7 seed Minot State on Thursday, May 2 at 10 a.m, in the first round of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament. The top ten teams in the final regular season standings will participate in the double-elimination tournament, which will be held May 2-4 at RYFSA Complex in Rochester, Minnesota.

USF Softball finished 10th in the final league standings, posting a 13-17 record in conference play. If the Cougars win their first round game, they will face No. 1 seed Winona State at 2 p.m., on field 'A' at the RYFSA complex. If the Cougars lose their first round matchup, USF will face the loser of first-round game Upper Iowa vs. Southwest Minnesota State at 4 p.m. on field 'A' as well.

Since joining the NSIC in 2012-13, Sioux Falls has earned a spot in the 10-team NSIC Softball Tournament field six times, each of the six four seasons. Heading into this weekend's tournament, the Cougars own a 6-10 record with a program-best fourth-place finish in 2015.
