Jeffery, who has been an assistant coach at St. Cloud State for four years, replaces Courtney Robinson, who recently took a position as director of basketball operations at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. She began her duties on July 1.
"I look forward to working with Carley (Jeffery), who has great work ethic, a warm personality and will bring a lot of energy to the program," said Traphagen, whose USF team has gone 88-35 overall, including 59-29 in the NSIC, over the past four seasons and advanced to the NSIC Postseason Tournament semifinals four straight seasons. "I believe Carly is an outstanding recruiter, who brings a tremendous sense of humor and the ability to connect and build relationships with student-athletes, and families. She is a great addition to our staff and the University," he said.
Jeffery, who is originally from Cambridge, Wis., helped lead SCSU to a 60-50 overall mark with a 49-29 league mark in the four seasons with head coach Lori Fish. Over the past two years, Jeffery was part of a staff that led SCSU to a 36-20 record and 28-16 mark in league play.
Prior to her work as a coach, she was a standout student-athlete for Fish at SCSU.
The daughter of a high school coach (Mike Jeffery), she finished with 447 points and 106 assists in 97 games played (50 starts) at SCSU. She helped lead the Huskies to the 2013 NSIC North Division Championship. Jeffery, who made 83 career three-pointers and shot 83.9 percent from the free throw line, was part of SCSU teams with a 64-45 overall record and 47-41 in NSIC play.
At SCSU, she earned a Bachelor's degree in sports management in 2015 and a Master's degree in educational leadership and administration in 2017.
Jeffery also excelled in the classroom as she was named to the NSIC All-Academic team three times. She also received the prestigious Myles Brand award her senior season. The award, named after the late NCAA President, is awarded to senior NSIC student-athletes with a 3.75 or higher GPA and eligible for graduation.
A 2011 graduate of Cambridge (Wis.) High School, Jeffery starred in basketball where she was named all-state, all conference four times, and set the three-point shot record. She was a two-time team MVP and captain twice. The daughter of Mike and Katie Jeffery, she also starred in volleyball with three all-league honors and MVP as well as service as team captain.
