Chris Aggen named USF Assistant Softball Coach

SIOUX FALLS -- Chris Aggen has been named the assistant women's softball coach for the University of Sioux Falls, according to an announcement today by USF head coach Shannon Pivovar. He began his duties at USF on Wednesday, August 14.

Aggen will assist Pivovar with day-to-day operations and functions of the USF Softball program both on and off the softball field.

"I am super excited to welcome Chris (Aggen) and his family to our USF Softball family," said Coach Pivovar. "He brings a passion for all things USF and has a desire to help continue to build the culture of USF Softball into a family dynamic. Chris has experience coaching female sports with success which is something that makes him invaluable in this role. He is loyal, dedicated and motivated to hit the ground running and I couldn't ask for more," said Pivovar.

Originally of Worthington, Minn., Aggen has spent several years coaching in high school sports, including serving as head coach of girls basketball and assistant coach of track and field at Jackson County Central in Jackson, Minn., from 2014-2019. He was also an assistant women's basketball coach for USF Head Coach Travis Traphagen from 2012-14.

Aggen is a graduate of Southwest Minnesota State in 2011 where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Health Education. Aggen played men's basketball for two years at SMSU where he earned the Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction Award (3.75 GPA) as a senior. In 2014, he earned a Master of Education degree in Education Leadership from USF.

He and his wife, Michelle, and their son, Caffrey, live in Sioux Falls, S.D.
