BURNSVILLE, Minn. – After a 89-75 victory on Saturday over Wayne State, the University of Sioux Falls Women's Basketball team will prepare for a Wednesday evening first round game with the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) North Division No. 8 Seed, Minot State. The game time is set for 5:30 pm at the Stewart Center.
The 2020 NSIC / Sanford Health Women's Basketball Tournament bracket has been released as the 22-game regular season ended Saturday night, as Sioux Falls earning the South Division title, for the first time in program history, with its 17-5 record. Minnesota Duluth earned its 12th overall NSIC Title and first NSIC North Division Championship as they finished the regular season at 20-2. USF had 24 wins for the first time since the 2015-16 team finished 27-6.
The first round of the tournament is set for Wednesday, February 26 played on the campus of the top four seeds in each division*. The women's quarterfinals, semifinals and championship will take place on March 1-3 at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. All rounds of the NSIC/Sanford Health Women's Basketball Tournament played at the Sanford Pentagon will to aired live on MidcoSN and streamed for free via Stretch Internet.
Tiebreakers:
North Division
- UMC earned the seventh seed in the north over Minot State as they split and had same division record, but UMC defeated higher seeded SCSU during regular season.
South Division
- Augustana earned the third seed as they went 3-1 head-to-head with CSP and WSU; Concordia-St. Paul was the fourth seed as they were 2-2 versus Augie and WSU while Winona State was 1-3 versus Augie and CSP.
- SMSU earned the sixth seed as they split with WSC and had the same division record, but SMSU defeated higher seeded MSU during regular season.
- *Winona State will host MSU Moorhead as both teams have 12-10 records, but WSU defeated MSUM in Moorhead this season.
