USF Women's Golf ranked 9th in initial NCAA DII Women's Golf Regional Rankings

 INDIANAPOLIS - The University of SIoux Falls Women's Golf Team is among three teams from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference ranked in the first NCAA DII Women's Golf Regional Ranking of the season. USF, directed by Head Coach Tavia Rutherford, is ninth in the ranking, which was released on Feb. 6. Other NSIC teams ranked included Augustana, seventh, and Minnesota State, 14th.  

Two more regional rankings will be released this spring with the next one set for March 26 and then again on April 16. Teams selected to the NCAA Regionals will be announced on Monday, April 27. 

USF will open the spring season at the Warrior Invitational at Stallion Mountain in Las Vegas, Nev., on March 9-10. In five fall competitions, USF placed in the top three on three occasions with a victory at the Augustana Invitational on Sept. 27-29. The Cougars have averaged a round of 310 as a team with a program-best 303 twice this fall. The Cougars also carded a program-best two-round total of 612 at the Central Region Preview to open the season on Sept. 4. 

The NCAA Central Super Regional will be played at Mules National Golf Club in Warrensburg, Missouri;  hosted by the University of Central Missouri on May 4-6.

Four 54-hole regional competitions will be conducted to determine the participants in the NCAA DII Championships. 12 Teams and six individuals will participate in each regional competition. Four teams and four individuals (not on one of the advancing teams) will advance from each regional to the championships finals. A total of 96 participants will advance to the finals. The championships finals will consist of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently. All participants will compete in 54 holes of stroke play competition, with the top eight teams advancing to a head-to-head medal match play bracket for the quarterfinal, semifinal, and championship round. In the team competition, the lowest four scores for each team will count in each day's total score. The individual national champion will be crowned after the 54 hole stroke play competition.

The NCAA Championships will be held May 13-16 at The Country Club of St. Albans in St. Albans, Missouri.
