GENEVA, OHIO – On the opening day of the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships, the University of Sioux Falls Swimming Team's 200 medley relay earned Honorable Mention All-American honors at the Spire Institute and Aquatic Center Wednesday night (March 11).
The Cougars finished with a clocking of 1:43.70 and placed 16
th which provided USF with two team points for 27th place after day one of the championships. With the 16th place finish, the relay team of
Elizabeth Spaans,
Jenna Krahn,
Chantal Kasch and
Ella Johnson earned Honorable Mention All-American honors in the 200 medley.
Also on Wednesday, Spaans finished 36
th in the 200 IM with a clocking 2:06.91. In the 50 free,
Jenna Krahn had a 23.52 clocking and placed 25th.
On Thursday, USF will compete in two events. Sophomore
Ella Johnson will swim in the 100 fly in the prelims in the morning at 10 am. She is ranked eighth with a seeding mark of 54.29. USF will also compete in the 400 medley relay. The squad of Spaans, Kasch, Johnson and Krahn is ranked eighth with a seeding mark of 3:43:37.
