Cougars Corner:
The Cougars are 1-8-2 on the season under the direction of seventh-year coach
Brittany Domino. Despite some close contests not going the Cougars way, they have battled injuries and played some competitive matches late into games. The Cougars were home this past weekend where they went 0-1-1 against Augustana and then picking up a tie against Wayne State on Sunday. The prior weekend, they returned from a road trip picking up a point, tying UMD and then losing to SCSU. The Cougars began their season facing off against three MIAA conference opponents in Northwest Missouri State, Fort Hays State, and most recently against Rogers State (Okla.) in a match played in Omaha, Nebraska. They began conference play and have played deep into matches while finding their identity with the young roster they have at USF.
Aundria Vargas leads the teams with 11 shots, followed by
Grace Held (8) and
Kassidy Graber (7). On the defensive end, the goalkeepers have 124 saves from
Alexis Wemhoff (59),
Caroline Titze (35) and
Holli Knudsen (30).
The Cougars are set to host Northern State on Friday Oct 15
th at 6 p.m. at the USF Sports Complex. They will wrap up the weekend of NSIC action at home vs MSU Moorhead on SENIOR DAY, Sunday at 1 p.m.
