USF Swimming shines in double dual with MSU and UJ on Saturday

MANKATO, Minn. - The USF Swimming team put together a series of top performances in a double dual against Minnesota State Mankato and Jamestown University on Saturday. The Cougars split a pair of duals, with a win over Jamestown while narrowly falling to MSU despite a noteworthy day by multiple USF swimmers.

The USF 400 yard Medley Relay shined in Mankato with a final time of 3:58.52. That time, artfully crafted by Paulina Ruelas, Inte Pas, Domenica Solano and Ursula Demarquet, set a new pool record for the event.

Pas also shined on her own by improving her already highly ranked time in the 100 yard breaststroke. With a time of 1:04.50, she not only won by nearly three seconds but also improved on her time from last week by .47 of a second. Her new mark in this event ranks fourth in NCAA Division II this year.

"I loved the intensity we brought to this meet. Our ladies fought for every yard and every swim," said Head Coach Chris Hamstra. "Walking away with a win against Jamestown, setting a pool record and winning 11 of 16 events against Mankato - we are very proud of what we accomplished this weekend."
