Box Score SIOUX FALLS – In the 15
th match of the season, the Sioux Falls Soccer Team fell to the Bemidji State Beavers in a 2-0 decision on the road, in NSIC action on Sunday.
Bemidji State struck first with a goal scored on the foot of Mason Schilling at the 21' mark of the match. The game had began to take shape as they traded field position for the rest of the half where the score remained 1-0. As for the defense,
Alexis Wemhoff had six saves in the first half for the Cougars.
Going into the second half of the match, the teams traded field position, playing sound defense on both ends, and it was in the 74th minute, the Beavers scored on a set piece by Halle Peterson after a yellow card by USF. The Cougars have only given up two goals in their last four matches and continue to find their identity in each third of the field.
The Cougars had four shots on the day,
Aundria Vargas and
Grace Held had two each. As they put the pressure on late into the match, they were unable to capitalize on a few more scoring chances this afternoon and lost a closely contested match vs Bemidji State.
Alexis Wemhoff had 13 saves on the day for the Cougars.
The Cougars will be back in action this upcoming Friday Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. vs Minnesota State when they return home to the USF Soccer Field.
