BURNSVILLE, MINN. – Senior setter Krista Goerger of University of Sioux Falls Volleyball Team has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Setter of the Week for the third time in her career in an announcement today (Monday, Oct. 4) by the league office.

Goerger, a senior from Mankato, Minn., was recognized for the second time this season as she was honored on Sept. 20.

In a weekend sweep of (RV) Northern State, 3-1 (22-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-21), and MSU Moorhead, 3-1 (26-28, 25-17, 25-15, 25-19), Goerger totaled 96 assists, three services aces, 23 digs and five blocks as the Cougars improved to 9-6 overall and 4-3 and ninth place in the NSIC standings.

Goerger, who recorded averaged 12.0 assists per set, 0.38 aces a set along with 2.88 digs and .63 blocks per set, had another stellar effort from the setter position. Against NSU, she totaled three kills with 47 assists and a .398 set percentage along with a service aces and 12 digs. In the win over MSUM, she had 49 assists and a .467 set percentage with two aces, 11 digs and three blocks.

Goerger, who became USF's first-ever volleyball First Team CoSIDA Academic All-American in summer of 2021, has pushed her USF record career assist total to 2,969.  

A three-time Academic All-NSIC and Academic Team of Excellence honoree, Goerger was honored two weeks ago after totaling 71 set assists, seven kills on 16 attacks for a .375 hitting mark and added a service aces and 14 digs in leading USF to a sweep of Minnesota Crookston, 3-0, and Bemidji State, 3-0, on the road on Sept. 17-18. Goerger also earned NSIC Setter of the Week honors on Oct. 29, 2018 when she helped USF hit .456 and supplied 89 assists.

Selected in 2020 as the NSIC Elite 18 honoree for highest GPA among competing student-athletes in league, Goerger ranks eighth in the NSIC with 10.04 assists per set with 572 on 57 sets played. She has 18 service aces for 0.32 per set.

She and her teammates will host U-Mary on Staff Appreciation  on Friday, Oct. 8, at 5 pm and Minot State at 2 pm on Saturday, Oct. 9 at the Stewart Center.
