SIOUX FALLS -- University of Sioux Falls head softball coach
Shannon Pivovar has announced the 2022 class of four talented student-athletes as part of National Signing Day. The four incoming freshmen will continue their academic and athletic careers by enrolling at USF in the fall of 2022.
"We are very excited to welcome the newest Cougars to our family today! It is a quality group of young ladies who have excelled on and off the softball field and embody what we want to build our program around. Campbell, Kelsey, Paige and Bailey each bring something different and unique to our team and we are excited to see them develop and grow! We can't wait for them to get here," said Pivovar.
The members of the 2022 class include Campbell Petrick, pitcher, Lincoln, NE; Kelsey Pauli, infielder, Omaha, NE; Paige Roessner, catcher, Wahoo, NE; and Bailey Sample, pitcher/infield, Jefferson, SD.
Campbell Petrick, pitcher, Lincoln, NE/Lincoln East HS
Campbell Petrick joins the Cougar family after wrapping up her decorated high school career at Lincoln (Neb.) East High School. A standout individual both in and out of the classroom, Petrick was a two-time all-conference and four-time Class 'A' All-State Honorable mention student-athlete in Nebraska. She was a two-time LPS Athletic Directors Scholar Athlete Award winner and as she wrapped up her senior season, Campbell finished with 401 strikeouts (second all-time) and they were the 2021 state runner-up for Class 'A' in Nebraska. She is a member of the Nebraska-Gold summer organization. The daughter of Meredith and Christian Petrick, she will join the USF family this upcoming fall. Campbell plans to major in media studies at USF.
Kelsey Pauli, Infield, Omaha, NE/Millard North HS
A true infield utility player, Kelsey Pauli joins the Cougar family after being a four-year letter winner and all-academic student athlete after spending time at Millard South and North High schools in Omaha, NE. Kelsey was a member of the Nebraska Gold summer organization and has a sister who plays college basketball at Concordia University in Nebraska. The daughter of Ken and Tina Pauli, she will join the USF family this upcoming fall. She plans to major in interior design at USF.
Paige Roessner, Catcher, Wahoo, NE/Skutt Catholic HS
Paige Roessner, who brings a wealth of experience behind the plate, is joining the USF family after a standout career at Skutt (Neb.) Catholic High School and Elkhorn (Neb.) High School. Roessner also played summer ball for the Nebraska Gold organization. She helped lead her teams to a state title in both her freshman and senior seasons and a runner-up finish as a sophomore. Roessner ended her decorated career as a two-time all-conference and all-academic student-athlete at Skutt Catholic. The daughter of Barb and Jason Roessner, she will join the USF family this upcoming fall. She plans to major in education at USF.
Bailey Sample, Pitcher/Utility, Jefferson, SD/Dakota Valley HS
Bailey Sample joins the Cougar family as a decorated academic student and four-year letter winner at Dakota Valley High School in Jefferson, SD. She wrapped up her senior season with 80 strikeouts and received 'B' All-State honors. Bailey was a member of the Yankton Fury Red summer organization and is battle-tested with four years of experience on the mound. The daughter of John and Stacy Sample, she will join the USF family this upcoming fall. Sample plans to major in biology/pre-med at USF.
