BURNSVILLE, MINN. – For the first time in his career, freshman
Nicholas Hernandez of the University of Sioux Falls Football Team has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, according to an announcement today by the league office.

Hernandez, a freshman psychology major from San Antonio, Texas, played a key role on special teams in USF's 38-17 win over Wayne State on Saturday. Hernandez converted all five of his extra points and hit a 28-yard field goal for eight points against the Wildcats. He is the third USF student-athlete honored with an NSIC weekly honor as
Thuro Reisdorfer was Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 20 and
Landon Freeman of the Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 1.
This season, Hernandez is now 40-of-41 on extra points and has made 7-of-11 field goals for 61 points for seventh in the NSIC. He has converted 5-of-9 field goals from 30-39 yards and is 2-of-2 inside the 30-yard line. With a 63.64 field goal percentage he is seventh in the NSIC. In addition, Hernandez has recorded 38 kickoffs for 2,190 yards for a 57.6-yard average with 13 touchbacks.
USF Football will wrap up the regular season with a Senior Day game at 1 pm against Upper Iowa on Saturday, Nov. 13.
