BURNSVILLE, Minn. - The University of Sioux Falls Women's Basketball Team (8-5), which defeated Southwest Minnesota State, 88-83 in overtime on Sunday in a "win and advance" game, have moved onto the 2021 NSIC/Sanford Health Women's Basketball Tournament on Feb. 25-27 at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls. With a overtime win against SMSU on Sunday at the Stewart Center, the Cougars will be seeded No. 4 in the South and face Minnesota Duluth, No. 1 North seed at 10 am on Thursday at the Pentagon.
The NSIC / Sanford Health Women's Basketball Tournament Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Championships will take place Thursday-Sunday, February 25-28 at the Sanford Pentagon. The top four teams from each division will compete in the eight-team tournament. Women's quarterfinals will be held on Thursday & Friday at 10 a.m. & 1 p.m. Women's semifinals will be Saturday at 10 a.m. & 1 p.m. and the championship will be Sunday at 1 p.m. All games will air on MidcoSN and on the NSIC Network. All times are subject to change.
Minnesota Duluth (9-1) won the NSIC North Division for the second year in a row and will be the top seed in the north. Augustana (10-3) won its third South division title
The Cougars, which won the NSIC South a year ago, have advanced to the NSIC Tourney at the Pentagon six straight years and advanced to the NSIC Tourney Semifinals five straight seasons. USF finished a half-game against of SMSU in the South standings and tied with Minnesota State at 8-5 for third in the NSIC South. MSU defeated USF earlier 71-67 in Sioux Falls to win the tiebreaker and the No. 3 seed.
