WAYNE, NEB. -- Standout performances from senior
Miranda Phipps and sophomore
Carson Hausmann in the javelin throw highlighted the performances of several throwers from the University of Sioux Falls Track and Field Team at the Wildcat Classic which opened on Friday.
Phipps, who was an NCAA DII provisional qualifier outdoors two years ago, won the women's javelin throw at 136-08 (41.66m) with a throw that ranks third all-time on USF all-time outdoor chart. However, it is not her personal best (152-07, 2019). Senior
Bailey Rudebusch was second at 118-07 (36.15m) with a throw that would also rank in the top 10 all-time in the javelin but short of her personal best (121-05, 2019). Junior
Ally Welch was third at 91-08 (27.93m).
In the men's javelin,
Carson Hausmann was second with a throw of 124-11 (38.08m).
USF also had several throwers in the hammer. On the men's side, freshman
Marek Rex was ninth at 139-00 (42.38m) with freshman
Dawson Davito, 12th, 127-01 (38.75m) followed by freshman
Brett Deschler, 14th, 122-04 (37.30m); Hausmann, 14th, 118-09 (36.21m) and sophomore Jameson Wolkow, 16th, 112-00, 34.15m).
In the women's hammer, senior
Jaimie McNamee was 11th at 161-09 (49.30m) with a throw that would rank fifth all-time at USF.  After McNamee, McKenzie Bengston placed 13th, 152-10 (46.58m) with a personal best that also ranked in the top-10 all-time. In 15th was seniorÂ
Kayla Andersen, 15th, 152-03 (46.41m) with a throw that also ranked top-10 at USF all-time but is not her personal best (156-10.25, 2019). Then, USF had Rudebusch, 18th, 145-04 (44.30);
Cali Boden, 23rd, 133-02 (40.60m) and
Ally Welch, 26th, 121-07 (37.07).
Field events and running events will begin on Saturday at 11 am.
