INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – For the third straight week, the University of Sioux Falls Women's Golf Team, which has put together three top-five team finishes in the past for competitions, has been ranked 11
th in the third of the NCAA DII Central Region rankings which were released today (Thursday, April 15).
USF has had a standout spring season with the three top-five finishes in four competitions. And, in a tourney with several regional teams, USF was seventh at the Central Regional Preview at Twins Oaks CC in Springfield, Mo., last week. Led by NSIC Golfer of the Week,
Maggie Veenendall, USF finished ahead of several teams at that competition. USF, which will compete at the Augustana Spring Invitational on April 17-18 at Elmwood Golf Course in Sioux Falls before the NSIC Championship at Morton, Minn., on April 23-25. USF finished second (647) at the Hillcat Classic on Owasso, Okla., on March 15-16; fourth (635) at the 2021 Midwest Intercollegiate Invitational at Warrensburg, Mo., on March 22-23 and fifth (666) at the 2021 Holiday Inn Express Missouri Western State Spring Invitational Regional Preview on March 29-30.
The only NSIC team in the top-11 of the rankings, USF has the top team scoring average at 325.8 per round on 10 rounds with a low round of 315. They stand seven shots better than the second place squad Augustana at 332.5. In 10 rounds this season, USF also three of the top four individual scoring average in the NSIC and led by two-time All-NSIC and All-Region qualifier
Lexi Hanson at 77.30 scoring average. Hanson has been NSIC Golfer of the Week three times and finished top-20 five times, top 10 three times and twice was the runner-up individually (Hillcat Classic, Missouri Western State Classic).
Ranked second in scoring average in the NSIC is
Sydney Hubbard, who has two top-20 finishes, at 80.13, and
Maggie Veenendall, who has two top-20 and a top-10 mark this year, is fourth at 81.25.
The NCAA Central Super Regional will be played at the St. Joseph Country Club and hosted by Missouri Western State on May 3-5. The entire field for the NCAA Women's Golf Championship will be announced on Monday, April 26 on NCAA.com with the finals on May 11-15 at TPC Michigan and hosted by Wayne State University and the Detroit Sports Commission.
In the finals, all 12 teams and 12 individuals will complete 54 holes of stroke play. Following 54 holes of stroke play, an individual champion will be declared along with finishers 2-10 based on cumulative total score and any applicable tiebreakers. The top eight teams after 54 holes of play will be placed into a bracket and seeded based on 54-hole scores.
