SIOUX FALLS – Led by seniors

Victoria Ambrosio-Cueto, the University of Sioux Falls Tennis Team (7-5, 7-4 NSIC) earned its fourth win in six matches and closed the regular season with a 7-0 win over Upper Iowa (2-12, 2-9 NSIC) on Sunday at Great Life – Woodlake.
With the victory, the Cougars earned the No. 6 seed in the upcoming NSIC Tennis Championships, which will be held on April 23-25 at the Huether Family Match Pointe in Sioux Falls. The Cougars finished 7-4 for the third straight year with the exception of 2020 when the pandemic ended the season early. USF will play No. 3 seed MSU Moorhead at 11:30 pm on Friday (April 23) at the conference tournament.
"We worked hard and had a lot of success today," said USF Head Coach
Kevin Grebin. "It was great to see the effort all day from across the entire group. We look forward to the opportunity ahead at the NSIC Championships," he said.
In total, USF earned wins in five of six singles with the No. 6 spot a forfeit. The Cougars also received a forfeit at No. 3 doubles but won at No. 2 with Klatt and
Joelle Thorfinnson to earn the doubles point.
At No. 1 singles,
Megan Quandt moved to 4-7 overall and 4-6 in league play with a straight set 6-1, 6-1 win against Jessa Michieli.
At No. 2, freshman
Talia Janos is now 3-6 and 3-5 in league play after a straight set win of 6-3, 6-1 against Lisa Ziani of Upper Iowa.
At No. 3 singles
Lexi Miller finished the regular season at 6-6 and 6-5 in league play with a straight set win of 6-1, 6-1 against Alejandra Abella.
With her straight set win over Mya Hermann at No. 4 singles, Klatt moved to 6-6 overall on the season and 6-5 in NSIC play. She won her team-best fifth straight match. In addition, she was part of the winning No. 2 doubles with
Joelle Thorfinnson who earned a 6-0 win over Lisa Ziana and Hermann of UIU. As a result, she is 7-3 as part of doubles play this season. She has been on doubles team that have won four straight matches.
USF also had a win at No. 5 singles from senior
Victoria Ambrosio-Cueto, who is 5-0 on the season. She earned a 6-0, 6-0 win against Elaina Wall.
