USF Soccer drops a 1-0 decision to Univ. of Mary during NSIC action on Friday afternoon

SIOUX FALLS – In the sixth match of the season, the Sioux Falls Soccer Team (1-5-0, 1-2 NSIC) dropped a 1-0 decision to the Univ. of Mary (3-1-2, 2-0-1 NSIC) on a beautiful afternoon of NSIC action hosting the Marauders out at the  USF Sports Complex.

The two teams traded field position for most of the first half until Brianna Ramey put one into the back of the net at the 36' mark to put the Marauders up, 1-0. As for the defense, Caroline Titze had five saves in the first half for the Cougars as they continued their stellar defensive play thus far in conference play.

The Cougars had three shots on the day by Ivory Donald, Grace Held, and Kassidy Graber. As they put the pressure on late into the match, they were unable to capitalize on a few scoring chances.  Titze ended the day with nine saves as the goalkeepers for the Cougars improved on their save percentage on the season.

"Today was a disappointing loss. I believe we played better soccer today but we gave up a goal at the end of the first half on a set piece. We need to clean those moments up. On the positive side, we kept possession of the ball better today and we had much more of an identity as a team. We have to keep taking steps forward as a group," Head Coach Brittany Domino said.

The Cougars will be back in action this upcoming Sunday, September 26 when they host Minot State with a kickoff time of 12 p.m.
