BURNSVILLE – The NSIC announced their weekly Player of the Week selections earlier today with redshirt-freshman and defensive lineman Zach Durfee being named the Defensive Player of the Week.
Durfee helped lead the Cougar Defense with three sacks on the day for a loss of six yards in USFs 31-24 victory over No. 11 Augustana. He recorded five tackles on the day with three tackles for loss while collecting his ninth sack this season. Durfee currently leads the NSIC in sacks on the year and sits second in the NCAA averaging 1.80 sacks a game.
Currently, Durfee has had 14 tackles, two forced fumbles, four QB hurries and one pass break up on the year. As a 6-foot-5, 250 pound defensive lineman, Durfee has proven to be dangerous to any opponent's backfield.
This week, Durfee and the Cougars will face off against Southwest Minnesota State who currently sit at 4-1 on the season. Kick-off is set for 1:00pm at Bob Young Field this Saturday, October 8th with gates opening at 12:00pm.
