USF Women's Wrestling Signs First NCAA Wrestlers in South Dakota

SIOUX FALLS – The University of Sioux Falls Women's Wrestling program, and head coach Toby Bryant, are excited to announce the addition of three athletes that signed last week during National Signing Day.

"November 9th, 2022 was a historic day for the University of Sioux Falls and its community as well as the entire state of South Dakota. USF Women's Wrestling signed three key student-athletes as the first NCAA women's wrestlers in our state, city and university. All three signees bring attributes and characteristics to build the foundation of our program. We look forward to supporting them on and off the mat."

The members of the 2023 class include: Maya Erickson, Adyson Lundquist and Ava McNeal.

Maya Erickson, 150, Brookings, SD / Brookings High School

Maya comes to USF in the fall of 2023 for the Cougar women's wrestling inaugural season. She attended Brookings High School where she competed in volleyball, softball, and wrestling. For the Bobcats, Maya was named team MVP for volleyball. She was also an All-Conference wrestler and placed third at the 2022 State Wrestling Meet. Maya is the daughter of Kelly and Rob and plans to major in Criminal Justice.

Ady Lundquist, 109, Corning, IA / Southwest Valley High School

Ady comes to USF from Corning, Iowa where she wrestling for the Timberwolves of Southwest Valley High School. Going into her senior season, he career record sits at 49-5. Lundquist joins the Cougars with numerous awards such as being named a Twin Rivers National Duals Gold All-American, a Disney Scholastic Duals All-American and a Preseason National All-American twice throughout her career. Lundquist has taken home gold in the AAU Iowa Girls State Wrestling Championships and is a three time place winner at the Iowa Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association (IWCOA) tournament. Ady is the daughter of Mathew and Sarah and plans to major in Exercise Science in the fall.

Ava McNeal, 101, Council Bluff, IA / Lewis Central High School 

Ava joins the Cougars Women's Wrestling program for their inaugural season in 2023. She attended Lewis Central High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa. For the Titans, McNeal competed in both cross country and wrestling. In wrestling she placed 6th at state both her sophomore and junior seasons. McNeal was also awarded Academic All-State Second Team. She also competed for MWC Wrestling Academy. Ava is the daughter of Hannah and Jason and she plans to study Biology on a Pre-Nursing track at USF.
