Sioux Falls, SD – After a great year, the University of Sioux Falls Women's Golf team's
Maggie Veenendall has been selected to play as an individual at the Central regional. Only nine teams and six individuals are selected to compete in the Women's Golf Central regional.
Veenendall had quite a memorable season as she won her first individual title and NSIC Golfer of the Week honor as well as a team title. During her victory at the Augustana Fall Invite she shot a career best four-over 148 that concluded with a clutch one-under 71 in the second round. She also led the Cougars in every tournament she played in while placing top-five in three tournaments and finishing in the top-12 in all but one tournament. The Junior averaged just under seven strokes over par with her career best round of two-under 70 coming during a second place finish at the Watkins Invitational. The two-time All-NSIC honoree becomes the 3rd USF Women's Golfer to qualify for DII regionals joining Tavia Rutherford and
Lexi Hanson.
"She is our leader both on and off the course, it's great to have a role model like her on the team." said Head Coach
Wade Merry of Veenendall, "From day one it was clear just how good she was and how everyone else looked up to her. We're so proud of her for making it to regionals, this is months of hard work paying off and it's great to see. We're so glad to have Maggie representing the Coo at regionals."
