Kaitlyn Hodgins named USF Women's Basketball Assistant Coach

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – University of Sioux Falls Head Women's Basketball Coach Travis Traphagen has announced the hiring of Kaitlyn Hodgins as assistant coach.

Hodgins, who was an assistant coach at Concordia (Neb.) University for two years, joins a USF program that finished 16-12 a year ago, including an 11-9 NSIC record and a No. 3 seed in the NSIC Tournament.  Hodgins is part of a USF program directed by Traphagen that has 138 wins, and ranks second-best in the NSIC over the past seven years.

"I look forward to working with Kaitlyn, who brings an array of talents to the position along with a great work ethic, a warm personality, and a lot of energy," said Traphagen, USF's career wins leader (259-129). "Kaitlyn has the ability to connect with student-athletes, shows outstanding recruiting prowess, and will be a great addition to our staff," he said. "She is an outstanding recruiter, who has the ability to connect and build relationships with student-athletes, and families. Kaitlyn is a great addition to our staff and the University," he said.

At Concordia (Neb.) University, she was part of a program that finished 22-9 with a 17-5 GPAC record and reached the NAIA national quarterfinals in 2020-21. In 2021-22, the program was 16-14 with a 13-8 GPAC mark and also played in the NAIA national tourney.   

Prior to coaching, Hodgins spent her final two collegiate seasons at the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma after transferring from Northern Oklahoma College. As a member of the Drovers, also an NAIA school, Hodgins was a team captain and was twice named Academic All-Sooner Athletic Conference.  

At Northern Oklahoma College, Hodgins garnered numerous honors for her work during the 2017-18 season, including Region 2 All-Conference, NJCAA All-Academic First Team and Female Student-Athlete of the Year accolades. She also served as a team captain.

Originally of Seminole, Okla., she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma in 2020. She is currently pursuing a Master's of Administration in Coaching and Athletic Administration.
