SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – University of Sioux Falls Head Swimming Coach
Chris Hamstra has announced the hiring of
Anna Moore as a full-time assistant coach, the first in program history.
Moore, who spent the previous year as the top assistant coach for the Oberlin College swimming and diving program in 2021-22, will assist with daily practices, recruiting, videotaping, home meet management, fundraising, student-athlete academic success, travel, compliance and other duties related to the sport of swimming.
"I am absolutely thrilled about bringing Coach Moore on board. Her addition to the staff makes it a very exciting time for USF Swimming," said Hamstra, who led his team to a fourth place finish at the NSIC Championships and advanced three individuals to the NCAA DII Championships. "She will make an immediate impact on the program with her experience and enthusiasm. More importantly, she will make a lasting difference in the lives of our student-athletes. That is who she is as a person. She has a desire to make those around her better people," said Hamstra.
Before working at Oberlin College, Moore was at Ithaca College where she assisted in all facets of the program from practice plans, technique training, lineup generation, social media, and recruiting. Moore, who has taught private swimming lessons to youth groups, has also served as an aquatic manager at Aqua-Tots.
A two-time NCAA national qualifier during her time at Albion College, Moore was the first woman in the history of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) to qualify for the national meet as an individual during their first season. At Albion College, she earned multiple all-conference awards. With the Britons, Moore still holds school records in the 400-free relay (3:30.20), 400-medley relay (3:51.73), 100-yard backstroke (55.84) and 200-yard backstroke (2:03.95).
Before graduating with a degree in psychology from Albion in 2019, Moore worked on campus as an alumni associate and campus tour guide. She has recently earned her Master's degree in exercise and sports science (concentration in sports psychology) from Ithaca (N.Y.) College.
