SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Following this past weekend's performances, USF Athletics is pleased to announce Mara Parker and Carter Slykhuis as this week's USF Athletes of the Week.

Parker played a vital role for the USF Women's Soccer team over the weekend. The team took their first weekend sweep of the season and their first sweep of a weekend since 2019. Mara scored 1 goal over the weekend and it was the game winner against Winona State. She also has started all of the last 4 games for the Coo and each of those 4 has either been a win or a draw for USF.

The Cougar soccer team got wins over Winona State and Southwest Minnesota State to secure their weekend sweep. The Coo is back in action on Friday October 13. They will be in Mankato to take on #5 Minnesota State starting at 3:00PM. 

Carter Slykhuis had a career best game over the weekend for the USF Football team. He had 11 catches for 134 yards and a touchdown. Those 11 catches moved him over the 100 receptions mark for his career, and has gone over 1,000 receiving yards for his career already this season. The Tea, SD native already has more catches, receiving yards, and touchdowns this year than he has in any of his previous seasons.

Carter is currently 5^th in the NSIC in receiving so far this year. The USF offense is ranked 7^th in the conference so far with 27.8 points per game, 176 rushing yards per game, and 212.5 passing yards per game. Cougar Football is on the road again this week for another tough NSIC matchup. They will be in Moorhead, MN to take on Minnesota Moorhead starting at 12:00PM.
