SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – USF Football is set to host Wayne State in their final home game of the season this Saturday, November 4 at 1pm at Bob Young Field. The Cougars will also recognize four seniors, along with two cheerleaders, before Saturday's matchup.
COUGARS v. WILDCATS HISTORY
USF currently holds a 9-1 record over WSC dating back to their first matchup in 2012 when the Coo defeated the Wildcats 24-14. The Cougars suffered their first loss to Wayne State last season when the Wildcats took a 31-24 victory over USF.
Historically, the Cougars have forced 371 points on the Wildcats averaging 37.1 points with their largest victory of 59-10 coming in 2015. USF is 4-1 at home against WSC while 5-0 on the road.
THE COUGAR FILE
USF is coming off a 55-6 loss to #2 Pittsburg State and currently sit 3-6 on the season and 3-5 in the NSIC after suffering their first losing season in 29 years.
The Coo look to end their 2023 campaign strong entering the weekend with 3,670 yards of total offense while averaging 27.56 points a game.
Camden Dean continues to lead USF on the ground and through the air with 658 rushing yards and 1,795 passing. Dean has completed 251-of-164 passes on the season along with 17 touchdowns and five rushing scores while averaging 199.44 passing yards and 73.11 rushing yards a game.
Dylan Rudningen became the 33rd member of the Cougar Football 1,000-yard club last weekend while rushing for 1,029 career yards and 10 touchdowns. This season, Rudningen averages 66.44 yards a game with 598 yards on the season and leads the team with six rushing touchdowns.
Carter Slykhuis and Mark Leonard sit atop the receiving chart with Slykhuis totaling 727 yards on 64 receptions along with five touchdowns this season. Leonard has recorded 388 yards on 34 receptions while tacking on four scores thus far.
Eli Schlangen, Matt Goehring and Garret Hoffman each sit with over 40 tackles on the season and combine for six pass breakups and an interception on the year.
Brady Crawford and Amaurii Grosskopf lead the defense while combining for three sacks on the season for a loss of 15 yards.
THE WILDCAT FILE
WSC is coming off a 14-12 win over #12 Augustana last weekend and currently sit 6-3 on the season and 5-3 in the NSIC. The Wildcats have recorded two ranked victories this season, defeating #17 Minnesota Duluth 28-18 followed by Augustana last weekend.
Last season, Wayne State went 9-3 while averaging 29.25 points a game. This year, the Wildcats have averaged 30.11 points a game while being led by quarterback Nick Bohn, running back Latravious Boyd and receiver Kendrick Watkins-Hogue.
Bohn has thrown for 2,150 yards and rushed for 145 yards on the season with 10 rushing touchdowns and 17 passing. Boyd has rushed for 585 yards and six scores while Watkins-Hogue has pulled down 47 receptions for 615 yards and five touchdowns.
Dexter Larsen leads Wayne State with 36 tackles on the season and three sacks for a loss of 15 yards. The Wildcats have forced 11 sacks on the season and 47 tackles for a loss of 146 yards.
