SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – USF Swimming took part in the Coyote Extravaganza today going head-to-head against the University of South Dakota, South Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Augustana and St. Cloud State.
USF opened day one of the meet with a third place finish in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 3:54.93 with team members consisting of Domenica Solano Ocampo, Inte Pas, Phini Schumacher and Valerie Childs. The relay team also finished sixth in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:38.96.
Valentina Brunelli picked up a fourth place finish in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:57.75 followed by Weronika Mrozek in sixth with a time of 11:05.68.
Emily Aten was the second fastest Division II swimmer in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.80 and a seventh place finish.
Ursula Demarquet-Alban tied for fourth in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.53.
Pas was the teams leading swimmer in the 400 yard IM with a 14th finish and a time of 4:53.33. She also landed a third place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke while recording a time of 1:06.86.
Freshman Phini Schumacher placed second in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 57.28
Childs led the NSIC in the 100 yard freestyle with a third place finish and a time of 53.84.
NSIC and USF Athlete of the Week, Alessia Moro finished third in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:16.19 followed by Brunelli in fourth at 5:19.00.
The Cougars will be back in action tomorrow, November 4, as they compete in day two of the Coyote Extravaganza held at the Midco Aquatic Center at 10am.
