SIOUX FALLS – The University of Sioux Falls tennis team took on Minnesota State tonight falling 7-0 in the match and 1-2 on the season. Despite not having two of his top players, coach Kevin Grebin felt his team performed really well while forcing a lot of close points against the Mavs in tonights matchup.
DOUBLES RESULTS
Sydney Osburn and Ella Hancock started the night off as the Cougars No. 1 doubles pair falling 6-4 to Lois Page and Avery Stilwell.
Danielle Thorfinnson and Katelyn Nesheim took on Chiara Carnelutti and Freia Lawrence in the second falling 6-1.
Alissa Thorfinnson and Emily Thinnsen rounded out the doubles for the Coo but fell short in a 6-2 loss to McKenna DeMarce and Elizabeth Felderman.
SINGLES RESULTS
Osburn opened the singles for USF but fell to Lois Page 4-6 and 1-6.
Hancock battled against Chiara Carnelutti as she came away with a 7-5 win in the second set, but fell 6-2 and 10-5 in the first and third sets.
Thinnsen took on Avery Stilwell but fell 6-0 and 2-6 in two sets.
Nesheim battled her opponent, Davia Podmogilnaia, to three sets with a 6-4 victory in the second set. Podmogilnaia took sets one and three 6-2 and 10-4.
Brianna Holm fell 0-6 in both sets to McKenna DeMarce.
Emma Rangel rounded out the Cougars lineup falling to Hana Minisy 6-4 and 6-2.
UP NEXT
The Cougars will be back in action tomorrow night as they take on SMSU at 7:00 p.m. at Huether Family Match Pointe.
