SIOUX FALLS – The University of Sioux Falls tennis team hosted the Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs last night and came away with a 4-3 victory. Head coach Kevin Grebin expressed how proud he is of his team and how hard each and every one of them battled for every point last night.
DOUBLES RESULTS
Sydney Osburn and Ella Hancock started the night off as the Cougars No. 1 doubles pair picking up a 7-5 victory over SMSUs Courtenay Leonard and Peyton-Lynn Anderson.
Danielle Thorfinnson and Katelyn Nesheim fell in a 7-6 matchup against Joana Indio and Gabriela Almeida.
Alissa Thorfinnson and Emily Thinnsen rounded out the doubles for the Coo defeating Faith Madikwe and Roz Oye 6-1.
SINGLES RESULTS
D. Thorfinnson opened the singles for USF but fell to Leonard 6-3 and 6-2.
Osburn picked up the Cougars first singles win in today's match with two 6-3 set victories against Madikwe.
Hancock dropped two sets to the Mustangs Indio with both sets finishing 6-1.
Thinnsen battled Camila Paccieri tonight, ultimately sealing the deal for the Cougars with her victory. She took the first set 6-3, but fell in the second set 5-7 and turned the tables to win the final set 7-5
Nesheim battled Anderson while she came away with a 6-2 and 7-5 victory.
Emma Rangel rounded out the Cougars lineup falling in three sets to Almeida, 6-4, 4-6 and 6-7.
UP NEXT
The Cougars will be back in action next week when the hit the road to Orlando, Florida where they will take on Concordia College, Seton Hill, King's College, Misericordia and Tampa.
