Sioux Falls, SD. – The University of Sioux Falls baseball team was swept in a doubleheader by the Wayne State Wildcats today at The Birdcage. Wayne State took game 1 4-2 and game 2 20-12.
GAME ONE – L 4-2
Wayne State took the lead early scoring 1 run in the 1st inning. The Cougars would strike back with 2 of their own in the bottom of the 2nd. The Wildcats took the lead for good with a 3-run 4th inning thanks to two homeruns.
WSU outhit USF 6-4. Tyler Cate, Dane Small, Isaac Bonner, and Weston Gjerde all had a hit for The Coo.
Corbin Kirk of WSU dominated on the mound. He threw 6.1 innings giving up only 2 runs and recorded 8 strikeouts.
GAME TWO – 20-12
Wayne State had the bats going early and often scoring in every inning except the 3rd and 9th. They used an 8-run 4th inning to break the game open. USF was keeping pace with 2 3-run innings in the 3rd and 5th innings and a 4-run 7th inning.
WSC outhit USF 16-13. Brady Klehr led the Coo in hitting with 3 hits.
Isaac Bonner led USF RBI with 4.

The Cougars will be back in action tomorrow for Senior Day at The Birdcage. USF takes on Wayne state to finish up the series. This single game will start at Noon!
