CROOKSTON, MINN. – The University of Sioux Falls softball team was able to get one game in today before the weather halted things up in Crookston. The Cougars came away with a 4-1 win during a five inning matchup against the Golden Eagles before getting rained out.
GAME 1 – W, 4-1
Sioux Falls held the Golden Eagles until the fourth inning when the connected for a solo homerun to take a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth.
The Cougars answered right back when Kait Van Der Zwaag sent a three-run shot to score herself as well as Kylie Madrid and Lexie Swift. Kennedy Thomas joined in for a solo homerun to give the Coo a 4-1 lead.
Swift and Damaris Cuevas both went 3-for-3 at the plate today while both produced stand-up doubles throughout the day as well.
Hanna Cress pitched a five inning game collecting six strikeouts and no walks while facing 18 batters. Cress secured her sixth win of the season.
GAME 2 – CANCELLED
Game two against the Golden Eagles was cancelled due to weather.
UP NEXT
The Cougars head west to Bemidji to take on the Beavers in their final regular season conference doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 12pm with game two to follow at 2pm.
