Cougars Split DH With CSP

May 2, 2023

St. Paul, MN. – The University of Sioux Falls Baseball team split a midweek series with Concordia St. Paul today. Game 1 went to CSP 17-9 and game 2 went to USF 10-7.

GAME 1 – L, 17-9

USF took the early lead scoring all 9 runs in the first 3 innings. The biggest inning was the 7-run 2nd inning highlighted by a 3-run homerun from Ben Serie. CSP would steadily fight back though scoring runs in every inning except the 2nd. They used two 6-run innings in the 5th and 6th to take control of the game.

CSP outhit USF 10-8. Tyler Cate and Dane Small each had two hits to lead the Coo.

Ben Serie and Noah Christenson led the Cougars in RBI each having 3. Ben Serie got his on a 3-run homerun.

GAME 2 – W, 10-7

Concordia St. Paul got out to an early lead outscoring USF 5-1 in the first 2 innings. USF would strike back by scoring 6 runs in the middle innings. Topping it off with a 3-run 8th inning to end up winning the game.

USF outhit CSP 14-10. The Coo was lead by Noah Christenson and Zach Andreason with 3 hits each.

Isaac Bonner, Wil Fisher, and Weston Gjerde all had 2 RBI to help the Coo to 10 runs.

Reese Gaber came out of the Cougar Bullpen to throw 5.1 innings. He gave up 3 runs but recorded 8 strikeouts.

UP NEXT

The Coo is off to Winona State for the final regular season weekend series of the year. Game 1 is Friday May 5 starting at 1:30PM. This doubleheader is being played at Loughrey Field in Winona, MN
