SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Cougar Swimming and head coach Chris Hamstra announce the addition of 10 swimmers to their 2023 roster.

The members of the 2023 class include: Emily Aten, Olivia Delarosa, Emily Groom, Karmen Holloway, Alessia Moro, Phoebe Mosley, Phini Schumacher, Emily Small, Sydnee Whetten and Inn She Yap.
Emily Aten helms from Thornton, Colorado and will compete in individual medley events for the Coo. Aten competed in swimming and track at Riverdale Ridge High School while setting five school records in the pool. She was a three-time letter recipient and was named the Swimmer of the Year as well as team captain. Emily also competed for the Northglenn Fusion Swim Club and plans to major in biology this fall.
Olivia Delarosa, a freestyle mid and distance swimmer, comes to USF from Sioux City, Iowa where she competed in tennis and swimming at Sergeant Bluff-Luton High School. Delarosa is a three-time all-conference athlete and two-time state qualifier in the 200 medley relay. Olivia also competed for the Sioux City Siouxland Sharks and will look to major in nursing and psychology while at USF.
Emily Groom joins Cougar Swimming from San Diego, California where she will compete in the individual medley fly events. Prior to USF, Groom was a member of the Coronado Swim Team Elite. Emily looks to major in psychology and criminology while attending USF.
Karmen Holloway, a native of Kissimmee, Florida, will join the program as a freestyle swimmer. A member of the Liberty High School swim team, Holloway was named their team captain and most valuable athlete. Karmen plans to major in Secondary Education come this fall.
Alessia Moro comes to the Coo from Trieste, Italy and will compete in distance and freestyle events for the program. In 2019, Moro claimed a medal at the Italian Championships in the 4x200 freestyle relay while also setting two regional records. Alessia plans to major in biology this fall.
Phoebe Mosley will compete in the individual medley and freestyle events for USF this upcoming season. Mosley joins the team from Fort Worth, Texas where she was named a 2023 All-State Honorable Mention athlete in the 100 fly and also picked up a district championship in 2020. Phoebe will major in radiologic technology here at USF.
Josephine "Phini" Schumacher comes from Berlin, Germany and will compete in the fly and freestyle events for Cougar Swimming. Phini plans to major in biology starting this fall.
Emily Small joins the coo from Iowa Central Community College where she was a 14-time NJCAA All-American. Small is originally from Grinnell, Iowa and will compete in backstroke and medley events. Emily plans to major in psychology at Sioux Falls.
Sydnee Whetten, an incoming freshman, will compete in the backstroke events for USF. Whetten helms from Tucson, Arizona where she swam for Tucson Ford Aquatics. While attending USF, Sydnee will major in exercise science and psychology.
Inn She Yap, an incoming sophomore, will compete in the freestyle and breaststroke events for the Coo this upcoming season. Yap is originally from Selangor, Malaysia and most recently swam for INTI International College Subang. InnShe will be majoring in computer science while at USF.
