Cougar Football Travels to (RV) Minnesota Duluth for Week Three Action

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Cougar Football hits the road once again as they look to take on the (RV) Bulldogs of Minnesota Duluth. The 2:00pm kickoff will take place at Malosky Stadium in Duluth, MN on Saturday, September 16.

 

COUGARS v. BULLDOGS HISTORY

USF currently holds a 4-1 record against UMD with an active four game win streak since their first faceoff in 2013. The Coo are 1-1 against the Bulldogs on the road with their last road victory occuring when Sioux Falls defeated Dululth 26-7 in 2017.

During their last outing, Sioux Falls squeezed by with a 34-31 win over Duluth after Thuro Reisdorfer rushed for 100-yards and three touchdowns while Adam Mullen threw for 146 yards.

Historically, the Cougars have forced 136 points on the Marauders averaging 27.2 points against the Bulldogs with their largest victory of 34-3 coming in 2019.

 

THE COUGAR FILE

USF is coming off a 36-17 road win over the University of Mary which marked the first win of the season as well as of the Glogowski era.

The Coo continue to grow both on the offense and defensive sides of the ball. Dylan Rudningen and Matt Grzybowski lead USF on the ground combining for 244 yards on the season and three touchdowns.

Camden Dean has earned the QB1 spot again this week after rushing for 58 yards and two touchdowns while throwing for 338 yards and three touchdowns.

Carter Slykhuis and Mark Leonard sit atop the receiving chart with Slykhuis totaling 123 yards on 12 receptions along with two touchdowns. Leonard has recorded 114 yards on six receptions thus far.

Matt Goehring and Garret Hoffman lead the defense with 14 tackles on the season.

Michael Stenbroten and Amaurii Grosskopf each sit with 2.5 tackles for loss with Grosskopf also adding one of the teams two sacks on the season.

 

THE (RV) BULLDOG FILE

UMD is coming off a 41-21 win over Northern State under 10-year head coach, Curt Wiese.

Last season, the Bulldogs went 8-3 while averaging 33.36 points a game. This year, Duluth has been led by redshirt sophomore quarterback Kyle Walljasper. Over two games, Walljasper has rushed for 259 yards and four touchdowns while throwing for 175 yards and seven touchdowns.

Sam Pitz sits as the No. 1 target for Walljasper with five receptions and three touchdowns.

Marcus Glodowski and Mac Strand lead the Bulldogs each with 11 tackles on the season.

The UMD defense has recorded 17 tackles for loss along with six sacks in two games compared to the Cougars 10 tackles for loss and two sacks.
