SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Cougar Football returns home to host Minot State in their annual Military Appreciation game. Kickoff is scheduled for 1pm at Bob Young Field with gates opening at 12pm.

 

COUGARS v. BEAVERS HISTORY

Sioux Falls boasts an 8-0 record against Minot dating back to their first matchup in 2011 when USF walked away with a 38-23 win.

During their last outing, Sioux Falls shut the Beavers out 34-0 during their home opener last season. Adam Mullen went 14-for-24 with 178 passing yards. Dylan Rudningen rushed for 74 yards and two touchdowns just behind Thuro Reisdorfer with 146 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Nick Hernandez went 2-for-2 in field goals and 4-for-4 in point after attempts.

Historically, the Cougars have forced 330 points on the Beavers averaging 41.25 points a game.

 

THE COUGAR FILE

USF returns home following a 42-34 loss to (RV) Minnesota Duluth last weekend.

The Coo continue to grow both on the offense and defensive sides of the ball. Dylan Rudningen leads the Coo rushing game with 204 yards and four rushing touchdowns thus far. Camden Dean is the teams second leading rushers with 136 rushing yards as well as four rushing TDs.

Camden Dean continues to hold QB1 spot again this week after rushing for 78 yards and two touchdowns against the Bulldogs. Dean also threw for 190 yards while completing 23 passes on 30 attempts. This season, Dean has thrown for 528 total yards and three touchdowns.

Carter Slykhuis and Mark Leonard sit atop the receiving chart with Slykhuis totaling 197 yards on 17 receptions along with two touchdowns. Leonard has recorded 117 yards on nine receptions thus far.

Eli Schlangen has recorded a team high of 18 tackles on the season followed by freshmen Matt Goehring, Garret Hoffman and Michael Stenbroten each with 16.

Brady Crawford and Amaurii Grosskopf each sit with 3.0 tackles for loss along with each recording the teams only two sacks on the season.

 

THE BEAVER FILE

Minot State is coming off a 52-25 loss to No. 5 Minnesota State and currently sit 0-3 on the season.

Last season, the Beavers went 1-10 while averaging 12.27 points a game. This year, Duluth has been led by running backs Evan Lovett and Myles West each with two touchdowns on the season. Lovett has recorded 223 rushing yards on 35 carries while West has tallied 189 yards on 27 carries.

Junior quarterback Dawson Macleary holds a 50% completion percentage along with just 204 yards and one passing touchdown.

Daniel Stokes holds the teams only receiving touchdown while averaging 16.14 yards a game.

The UMD defense has recorded 10 tackles for loss along with five sacks in three games.
