SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Cougar Football prepares to host Augustana University in the 11th annual 'Key to the City' matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 1pm this Saturday, September 30 at Bob Young Field. Fans can follow along on the USF Cougars app, presented by Chick-fil-a.
COUGARS v. VIKINGS HISTORY
Sioux Falls boasts an 8-2 record over the Vikings since the first 'Key to the City' matchup in 2012 when the Coo won 32-31 in double overtime.
During their last outing, Sioux Falls paved the way with 434 yards of total offense averaging 7.7 yards a play. Adam Mullen completed 17-of-27 passes for 259 yards and two touchdowns while the team rushed for 175 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Augustana rushed for just 112 yards, but found their success behind quarterback Casey Bauman throwing for 284 yards and three touchdowns.
Historically, the Cougars have forced 289 points on the Vikings averaging 26.27 points a game.
THE COUGAR FILE
USF looks to defend 'The Bob' following a 7-0 win over Minot State and their first shutout since 2019.
The Coo continue to build momentum as Dylan Rudningen leads USF in rushing with 335 yards and four rushing touchdowns thus far following a career high game against Minot. Matt Grzybowski is the teams second leading rushers with 149 rushing yards and two TDs followed by quarterback Camden Dean with 140 yards and four touchdowns.
Camden Dean continues to hold QB1 spot again this week and leads the team with 629 yards on the season while completing 58-of-79 passes. Dean has thrown three touchdown passes on the season followed by Mullen with two.
Carter Slykhuis and Mark Leonard sit atop the receiving chart with Slykhuis totaling 236 yards on 22 receptions along with two touchdowns. Leonard has recorded 144 yards on 13 receptions thus far.
Eli Schlangen has recorded a team high of 21 tackles on the season followed by freshmen Matt Goehring and Garret Hoffman with 20.
Brady Crawford and Amaurii Grosskopf each sit with 3.0 tackles for loss along with each recording the teams only two sacks on the season.
THE VIKING FILE
Augustana is coming off a 31-27 victory over MSU Moorhead last weekend and has been led by quarterback Casey Bauman, and running back Jarod Epperson. Bauman has rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns this season while throwing for seven touchdowns and completing 75-of-115 passes, but has thrown five interceptions in four games. Epperson has rushed for 225 yards and three touchdowns on 44 carriers.
Defensively, Peyton Buckley leads Augie with 26 tackles and five pass break ups. The Viking defense has given up just 53 points this season along with 294.8 yards a game.
