SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - (RV) USF Swimming competed in Day Three of the NSIC Championships today resulting in 7 podium appearances and 2 All-Conference. After three days, the Cougars sit fourth overall with 457.5 points.
"I'm very proud of our NSIC All-Academic student-athletes and all of their accomplishments in and out of the pool," state Interim Head Coach Anna Moore. "I'm even more proud of entire squad on earning the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team award!"
The NSIC and CSCAA announced their all-academic recipients today with 13 USF swimmers named to the All-NSIC Academic team and the team as a whole being named a CSCAA All-American Team based on their academic performance.
Alessia Moro started the night off with a fourth place performance in the A-Final of the 500 Free with a final DII B-cut time of 5:04.02. Sarah Knox took the top spot in the B-Final with a time of 5:05.05 while Weronika Mrozek took third in the B-Final with a time of 5:09.03. Valentina Brunelli also took the top spot in the C-Final for the Coo with a time of 5:14.61 with Emily Aten finishing fifth at 5:24.49.
Domenica Solano Ocampo placed sixth in the 100 Backstroke A-Final with a time of 57.03.
In the 100 Breaststroke, Inte Pas took fourth place overall with a time of 1:05.06. Inn She Yap finished third in the B-Final with a time of 1:06.06. Abby Ford took the top spot in the C-Final with a time of 1:07.08.
Valerie Childs and Phini Schumacher picked up All-Conference honors in the 200 Fly tonight. Childs placed second with a time of 2:05.59 while Schumacher finished third at 2:06.58. Emily Groom followed suit with a fourth place finish at 2:07.27. In the B-Final, Hannah Warmbrand finished seventh with a time of 2:16.51.
The USF 'A' relay team picked up a fourth place finish in the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:35.66 with members consisting of Schumacher, Yap, Solano Ocampo and Ursula Demarquet-Alban. The 'B' squad secured a sixth place finish at 1:42.03 behind Ashtyn Molesworth, Groom, Brunelli and Josie Schlachter.Â
