SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - (RV) USF Swimming wrapped up the NSIC Swimming & Dive Championships with six podium appearances, two All-Conference performances and one individual event champion. The Cougars finished fourth overall with 607 points.
"I'm so proud of our girls," stated Interim Head Coach Anna Moore. "I'm honestly at a lost of words. They've all overcome so much adversity and are such a special group of girls. They've all poured their hearts and souls into this program and University and I couldn't be more proud. Our seniors will be dearly missed, but I'm so excited to watch them grow and flourish in their lives outside the pool."
Sarah Knox secured an NSIC All-Conference performance in the 1650 Free with a third place finish at 17:31.00. Alessia Moro finished fourth with a time of 17:38.60 for the Coo.
Emily Groom was the lone competitor in the 100 IM placing fourth in the B-Final with a time of 1:00.98.
In the 100 Free, Valerie Childs took home fourth place with a DII B-cut time of 51.90. Ursula Demarquet-Alban took the top spot in the B-Final with a time of 52.37 followed by Phini Schumacher finishing fifth in the B-Final at 52.65.
Domenica Solano Ocampo finished fifth in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:04.74. In the B-Final of the 200 Back, Phoebe Mosley clocked in at 2:09.50 with an eighth place finish.
Inte Pas once again made a statement in the 200 Breaststroke while capturing the title with a DII B-Cut time of 2:19.60. Pas is now a three-time NSIC Champion in this event for the Cougars. Emily Aten finished third in the B-Final with a time of 2:26.78. Abby Ford closed out her career in the the 200 Breaststroke with a first place finish in the C-Final and a time of 2:32.13.
In the 400 Free Relay, the USF 'A' team took home fourth with a time of 3:29.35. Team members included Demarquet-Alban, Inn She Yap, Solano Ocampo and Childs. The 'B' squad clocked in at 3:42.48 consisting of Valentina Brunelli, Pas, Natalia Escalante and Ashtyn Molesworth.
USF Swimming closes their 2023-24 season 8-2 in dual settings. The Cougars landed two event champions, nine All-Conference performances and 24Â podium appearances. Sioux Falls awaits for national rankings released on February 26th to determine national qualifiers.
