USF Baseball Announces Alumni Day

USF Will Honor the 1982 Baseball Team for Being Inducted into the USF Athletics Hall of Fame

Sioux Falls, S.D. – The University of Sioux Falls Baseball team has announced their Alumni Day. On Saturday April 27, USF Baseball will host an alumni day to celebrate all Baseball alumni. All Baseball alumni looking to attend are asked to RSVP by using the link below!

USF will honor the 1982 Baseball team before game 1 of the doubleheader beginning at 1:30PM. The '82 team will be honored at approximately 1:15PM. All Baseball alumni will be admitted into the game for free with anyone else attending with them being charged a discounted rate of $5.

The 1982 Sioux Falls College baseball team went 15-11 en route to a South Dakota Intercollegiate Conference (SDIC) title by winning five consecutive games and the deciding game over Dakota State, 3-2. Top performers on the team included Mike Richardson, Doug DeJong, Les Gunn, and Bel Kennerly. SFC maintained a .342 team batting average while averaging either runs per game to become just one of three men's teams to win a conference title.

Team members: Dan Clark, Doug DeJong, Dan Ellingson, Les Gunn, Doug Heidebrink, Mick Hoglund, Belvie Kennerly, James Kennerly, Chuck Lacina, Ed Mann, Todd Mathison, Mike Richardson, Luis Rivera, Dennis Simon, Ron Tordoff+, Dalen Uhlenhopp, Don Waring, Ron Zylstra. Coach Kevin McDonald and Bruce Ferrie and Manager SID Kortemeyer.

The current USF Baseball team is 13-8 overall and 7-5 in conference play. That puts the Cougars in 6th place in the NSIC standings so far this season. USF will take on St. Cloud State this weekend on Friday and Saturday. The Cougars have been led by some dominant pitching and hot bats so far this year. Owen Weadge (3.38) and Jake Ammann (3.42) are 6th and 7th respectively in the conference in ERA this season. At the plate, David Swanson had led the Cougars with a .337 batting average, .871 OPS, and has stolen 10 bases. Overall, USF is 13 in the conference in hitting, 5th in pitching, and 2nd in fielding in the NSIC.
