WAYNE, NE – The USF Women's Golf team played a compact 36-hole tourney today and headed home in 6
th place.
With problematic weather in the forecast for Tuesday, the Wildcat Classic was condensed to just one day. All 36 holes took place today with the Cougars shooting 68-over par to finish with a 644 (322-322). The score tied them for 6
th place with Winona State. Abby Ritzer led the Cougars with a 14-over 158 that placed her tied for 12
th.
The Cougars closed out the tourney 18 strokes ahead of 8
th place and just 4 from 5
th.
USF stats:
Abbie Ritzer: t12
th, +14, 158 (81-77). In round 1 she had 2 birdies and 7 pars while round 2 gave her 4 birdies and 7 pars. In total she carded 6 birdies & 14 pars.
Bryn Huber: t24th, +18, 162 (82-80). In round 1 she had 8 pars followed by a dozen pars in round 2 to give her 20 on the day.
Maggie Veenendall: t28th, +19, 163 (77-86). In round 1 she claimed 11 pars and a birdie before adding 8 pars in the second round. In total she had a birdie & 19 pars
Tanna Phares: t33rd, +21, 165 (82-83). She began the day with 10 pars and added another 9 in round 2 for a total 19 pars.
Ashley Tackett: t38th, +22, 166 (84-82). A birdie & 9 pars in round 1 coupled with 8 pars in round 2 gave her a birdie & 17 pars on the day.
Emily Harste (I): t52nd, +29, 173 (82-91). She made 1 birdie in round 1 and a total 13 pars with 8 in round 1 and 5 in round 2.
The Cougars will head to the NSIC Championships in nearly two weeks on April 26
th.
