Sioux Falls, S.D. - The University of Sioux Falls Baseball team was swept by Winona State today in a doubleheader. WSU took game 1 8-3 and game 2 9-7 in 10 innings.

GAME 1 - L 8-3

Reese Gaber took the ball first for USF and threw 5 innings. He allowed 5 hits and 6 earned runs while recording 4 strikeouts. Derek Lundgren and Dylan Immel each came in to throw 1 inning out of the Cougar Bullpen. Lundgren allowed 2 hits and 2 earned runs . Immel did not allow a hit or a run and recorded 1 strikeout.

At the plate, the Cougars were able to get some runs across in the 2nd but could not get anything else going. Ben Serie and Noah Christenson led the team in hits with 2 each with Christenson also scoring 1 run. Tyler Cate, Wil Fisher, and Isaac Bonner each had 1 hit for the game. Bonner scored 1 run and also drove 1 run in. Overall, USF had 7 hits, 2 RBI, 3 walks, 5 strikeouts, and 7 left on base.

GAME 2 - L 9-7

Brady Baur started for USF in game 2 and threw 4.2 innings. Baur allowed 3 hits and 6 earned runs while striking out 5. Mason Leonard came on in relief and threw a solid 3.1 innings. He allowed 3 hits and 1 earned run while recording 3 strikeouts. Garrett Oswald came in to relieve Leonard and threw 1.0 inning and allowed 1 hit but no runs. Grayson Skinner finished off the game for USF. He threw 1 inning and gave up 3 hits and 2 earned runs.Â

At the plate, USF finally had the bats rolling. Brady Klehr was the catalyst as he had 3 hits and an RBI. Tyler Cate, Ben Serie, and David Swanson each had 2 hits. Cate tallied a run scored and an RBI, Serie had 3 RBI and his 2 hits were both doubles, and Swanson scored 2 runs. Noah Christenson, Mitch Iliff, Isaac Bonner, and Ryan Gouldin each had 1 hit. Iliff scored 2 runs and had an RBI. Overall, USF had 13 hits, 7 RBI, 4 walks, 12 strikeouts, and 9 left on base.

The Cougars are back in action tomorrow. USF and Winona State will play a single game tomorrow starting at 4PM. This game was originally scheduled for a 12PM first pitch but is being moved due to potential weather.Â
