LAKE CITY, MINN. – The USF Women's Golf team had a memorable day at the Watkins Invitational with the individual win, best round score in 5 years, and the team taking 3
rd.
The Cougars carded a team round score of 290 in the final round to secure 3
rd place. The score is the 2
nd best round for USF since joining DII and is only bested by a 288 scored during the 2019-20 season. Overall the Coo placed 3
rd with a 37-over par score of 605 (315-290).
Sophia Karsnia played a major part in the team achievement as she won her first individual title in only her second tournament. Karsnia dropped a 2-under 69 in the second round to hop from 8
th to 1
st which was the best round of any golfer in the tournament.
The usual team lead,
Maggie Veenendall, took a backseat to Karsnia's break out day but still played well as she tied for 6
th place.
Bryn Huber played fantastic on day 2 as she carded the 2
nd best round of the tournament at 70 and tied for 11
th.
